"Township resident Kathy Mendla said board shouldn't even be considering the idea.
“The board shouldn't give [Clear Channel] any more than what's in the ruling,” she said.
She added that the billboards can be highly dangerous because they are distracting and might cause accidents.
“There's no proof that these signs are safe for drivers,” she said. “Eyes are drawn to motion, so drivers will be distracted by these signs. There are no studies on these signs.”
But studies do exist, Kauker said. One by Tantala Associates, a Philadelphia consulting engineering firm, shows that the electronic billboards have no impact on driver safety, he said."
Digital billboards are just as safe as asbestos, nicotine, and lead. Many people died because of the rush to judgement. With nicotine the evidence that it was addictive was hidden from the public.
